Can you just take a little off the top, I’m not looking for a drastic cut…

I always wanted to start this blog with something really great, exhibiting some of Ypsilanti’s slightly overlooked gems.  It makes me sad that this is my first post, but it is an important one.

My dear friend Andy Ypsilanti informed me of some budget cuts that Ypsilanti will soon be undertaking.  Included in these cuts are 6 firefighters, 5 police officers, maintenance of Riverside Park and Frog Island Park, salaries of many hardworking city employees and recreation activities through the senior center. Notice there is no mention of a cut in the pay of the council members making these decisions?  Not that it would be a significant amount of money to be saved, but it could help to fund senior center activities, or the general upkeep of Riverside and Frog Island Parks.  Why isn’t this being discussed?  Because no one is bringing it to the table except our few devoted Ypsi fans.

If you are available tonight, the 11th, or next week on the 19th at 6:00PM, please join this fight at the Ypsilanti City Hall and let the council know that you are watching their decisions, and you are not happy.  Ypsilanti is slowly making it’s mark on the Southeast Michigan map, and it needs the help of its residents to keep the momentum going through small but noticeable commitments to keeping our parks visitable and our activities hoppin’ in the senior center.

If you live here, or you just love it here:  Robin hood the shit out of those council members!
